Symphony orchestra's next performance will be on Thursday March 1 at the FAC at 7 PM. Both Eastern and Northern's symphony orchestras will be performing as well with our guest conductor from Western Michigan University, Bruce Uchimura.
MSBOA solo/ensemble festival is rapidly approaching on Saturday February 4 at East Kentwood High School. Students participating have been given an information packet containing their performance time, room number, map to EKHS, map of EKHS, and many other important items for the day.
Symphony boys have been issued a tuxedo. There is a $10 dry cleaning fee and checks are to be made out to FHC orchestra boosters. Please get this payment in ASAP.
Candybar sales will begin in late February. Please take a moment to discuss with your son/daughter what and if they would like to participate in this fundraiser. Each candybar sells for $1 and 50 cents of that will go into their own student account to be used for orchestra related items such as music, strings, shoulder pad, endpins, orchestra trips, etc.
Planning for the biannual orchestra trip to New York City is currently underway. Tenative dates for this trip will be November 15-20. If you are interested, start saving now for upcoming payments. More information is to come.
The orchestra boosters have made a decision to put all monies received from escrip accounts into the general orchestra account rather than into individual student accounts due to low earners and high accounting management. (Most accounts made under a dollar each month).
Scholarships that were received last year will expire in March so if you received one and would like to apply it toward camp or lessons, please fill out the necessary paperwork to receive your money.
All seniors will need to submit their senior picture and a baby picture (that will be returned) to Mrs. Boomers for the spring concert. Please bring these items in soon. E-mailed pictures are welcome and easier to upload into the computer.
Consider private lessons to enhance your child's musical education. A list of private instructors can be found on the handout page.
